BAND HISTORY

The band’s creative nucleus is the duo formed by Ricardo Piñero and Quim Ramos (founding members). They start working as a duo in 2004, setting out what was to become the future band’s musical guidelines. As a result of these early months’ mutual collaboration they record “Duando”. They invite Jordi Herreros to play in one of the songs. A good musical vibe results and they start inviting Jordi to some concerts, which makes them slowly and naturally grow into “Triando”. With this line-up they perform in Barcelona during 2004-05.
In March 2005, Pere Aguilar, from “Nomada57” Studios offers himself to produce what later became the album “A nuestro aire”. That recording is carried out in April. Once the album is recorded, they are given the opportunity to perform it at the Font d’en Fargas Theatre. They invite Tete (flute and sax), and the good vibe they share leads to further collaboration in some gigs.
In the following months, Jordi quits the project. Ricardo and Quim decide to carry on with it, and so they contact (percussionist) Joao Balao a member o Mariano Martos band and, together with Carlos Cortes, bandmate in another flamenco setup of Tete. Different percussionists alternate depending on the band’s needs and each one’s schedule. In that period they perform at the Teatro Alternativo of Sant Andreu and the Fusión Festival in Jerez de la Frontera (November 2005 and January 2006 respectively). Quim starts a very rich creative and composing period that gives as a result the most part of the group’s repertoire, along with some compositions, nuances and ideas from Ricardo Piñero. By then, Carlos and Tete get more and more involved with Triando’s music, and they are no longer considered just session musicians to be counted on exclusively for gigs and become something much closer to a real band. A new period is started, and exchanging of ideas is no longer a duo but a quartet matter, the project’s leading is still, however, in Quim and Ricardo’s charge. (Harlem Jazz Club: March, April, May and June 2006, Nou Barris Festival, Teatro Alternativo de la Macabra).
Well aware of the band’s new dimension and possibilities, they feel the need to frame that effort unto a new recording project. They contact Paco Román from Estudios “La Pecera” in Barcelona, he accepts producing it and, in June 2006, recording starts. For that new project they enjoy the collaboration of musicians Antonio Restucci (mandolin), Pirata (flamenco vocals) and Diego Cortés (flamenco guitar).
Thanks to the band’s diversity of origins (Cádiz, Malaga, Barcelona and Portugal), and to the different personalities of band members, the band reflects that mixture of Mediterranean, flamenco, jazzy, Brazilian character… As Paco de Lucía once said: “There’s no music Fusion, just musicians Fusion”.
